Ginger Jar (769)

This elegant Moorcroft cobalt blue, "covered vase," ginger jar (Model 769) stands at about 4.5 inches (11.5 cm) with the beautiful and hugely popular hibiscus floral design. The William Moorcroft Pottery was the official Potter to Her Majesty Queen Mary for 50 years from 1928-1978.  Queen Mary died in 1953.  William Moorcroft himself died in 1945 but his son, Walter, carried on the fine tradition and reputation of Moorcroft.  This lovely piece displays the paper British Royal Warrant both on the bottom of the jar and on the inside of the lid (please see photos below).  The Royal Warrant reads

In addition to the Royal Warrant on the inside of the lid and on the bottom of the jar, there is an original "Moorcroft England" sticker on the outside of the jar (please see photo below).
